In Ramallah the PLO bid for getting the UN Security Council to recognize a Palestinian state was celebrated throughout the past week as cars carried Palestinian flag as well as the PLO-campaign flag ‘Palestine State 194′.

Tuesday a giant blue chair was put up at Al Manara Square as a symbol of the wanted seat at the UN for a Palestinian state. Wednesday 2-4.000 Palestinians celebrated Abbas’ arrival to New York at Clock Square – now referred to as Arafat Square. And again Friday between 5-10.000 people gathered at Clock/Arafat Square waving not only Palestinian flags, but also pictures of Abbas, who seemed to be the hero of the week.
