Easter in the Holy Land – Påske i det Hellige Land 2011

Nuns carrying palm leaves

Every year thousands of Christian pilgrims from all over the world and from many different Christian churches such as Roman Catholics, Coptic Orthodox, Ethiopian Orthodox, Anglican, Protestant Christians and so on and so forth  swarm The Holy City to be a little closer to Jesus during what many Christians consider the year’s most important holidays.

The many religious tourists turn Jerusalem into a chaos of hystiria and selfish struggle to get the best spot during ‘the Miracle’ or to kiss the Holy Sepulchre.

These are some of my observations during Easter in Israel 2011:

April 17: Passing checkpoints at Passover
April 17: Palmegrene til ‘wun dullar’/Palm leaves – ‘wun dullar’ (in Danish)
April 22: Good Friday in Jerusalem
April 25: Jaffa on Easter Monday
